The legacy of Nadezhda Lamanova in the creative cluster «Legprompark» The creative cluster «Legprompark», created by SOYUZLEGPROM, became a platform for an important cultural event: on November 25, a meeting took place here between students of the S. G. Stroganov Russian State Art and Industrial University and Natalia Kozlova, president of the Cultural and Educational Foundation "Magic of Fashion" — a laureate of the Moscow city award in literature and arts, a partner and friend of the «Interfabric» exhibition.

The central theme of the lecture was the upcoming 165th anniversary in 2026 of the birth of the famous fashion designer and theatrical costume artist, Nadezhda Lamanova.

Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova (1861–1941) — an outstanding fashion designer and theatrical costume artist, was born in Nizhny Novgorod province. She spent most of her life — 58 years — in Moscow. She held the title of «Supplier to Her Majesty's Court», creating outfits for Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, as well as for members of high society, including the wife of the Moscow mayor, Elizaveta Feodorovna Romanova.

Lamanova became an innovator in Russian fashion, building the first Fashion House in Moscow at 10 Tverskoy Boulevard. She was the first in the world to propose the concept of «fashion for the people». She also developed a «theory of industrial modeling», aimed at optimizing clothing production — minimizing manual labor and the rational application of machine operations for the serial output of garments.

The only Russian fashion designer, Nadezhda Lamanova, together with her associates, received the Grand Prix at the Art Deco World Exhibition in Paris in 1925, which was a recognition of her talent at the international level.

The anniversary of the greatest Russian fashion designer coincides with ten years of activity of the «Magic of Fashion» foundation, which has been actively promoting the legacy of the great Russian craftswoman since its inception.

Natalia Kozlova shared that the foundation's history began in 2016 with a call to admirers of Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova's work to recreate lost masterpieces from her heritage. The initiative received a wide response — volunteers reconstructed 25 costumes at their own expense, which were presented at the first anniversary exhibition «Genius in a Skirt» in Moscow. Since then, Lamanova's birthday — December 26 — has also been celebrated as the foundation's birthday.

Over the years of its existence, the foundation has become a hub for talented youth and like-minded individuals. In 2025, with the support of the company «3D PLATFORMA» from Skolkovo, the First Virtual Costume Museum «Genius of Russian Fashion and Her Era» was created. This unique 3D format showcases the works of Nadezhda Lamanova and her colleagues, allowing young designers to become more deeply acquainted with the creative work of outstanding masters of the past.

«Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova is a true star of Russian fashion and theater, a pride of the country. In the anniversary year, the «Magic of Fashion» foundation aims to expand the scope of promoting her name, organizing various events in Moscow. We decided to start by engaging with students to inspire them to create modern and original projects based on Lamanova's creative heritage», emphasized Natalia Kozlova.

This meeting at «Legprompark» not only helps preserve the memory of the great craftswoman but also serves as a powerful impetus for developing new creative ideas among young designers, continuing the traditions of Russian fashion art.

Among the regular visitors of the general industry exhibition of textile and light industry «Interfabric» — designers, brand founders, production owners — there are also many followers of the great Nadezhda Lamanova!
