Russia and the CIS countries are ready to develop cooperation in the field of light industry. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin, during a meeting of the Russian Cabinet of Ministers. He noted that during the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth in Tajikistan, several important documents were adopted. In particular, the Concept for the Development of Cooperation in the Light Industry Sector and the corresponding “roadmap” were approved.

According to Mikhail Mishustin, the implementation of these measures will help launch joint projects in this sector with colleagues from neighboring countries, as well as increase the production of demanded goods, expand their range, and generally enhance the competitiveness of such products.

The document was signed on June 5, 2025. The implementation of the Concept and the action plan will allow CIS countries to reach a higher level of communication in terms of developing and deepening interstate cooperation in the production of consumer and industrial goods.

The Concept provides for cooperation in the processing of raw materials of animal and plant origin, the development of fabric production, as well as the coordination of light industry with related sectors of the economy.

In addition, modernization of equipment and innovative technological development are planned. Within the framework of the Concept, cooperation is proposed on the unification of product safety requirements in the light industry and the creation of competence centers for knowledge exchange and training.

Meanwhile, the Union of Textile and Light Industry Entrepreneurs (SOYUZLEGPROM), under whose auspices the "INTERFABRIC" exhibition is held, is constantly initiating comprehensive industry cooperation within the EAEU-CIS framework, taking into account its export potential. SOYUZLEGPROM notes that today cooperative ties are being actively developed with Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Joint projects with Tajikistan are also being worked out.

The "INTERFABRIC" exhibition itself, where many companies from CIS countries present their products, also contributes to the development of economic and business relations in the field of light industry. In particular, at the upcoming "INTERFABRIC-2025.Autumn" exhibition, which will be held on August 26–28 at Crocus Expo, the participation of enterprises from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan has been confirmed.

As noted by Vadim Ganin, General Director of the “Business Center for CIS Economic Development” Association, during the business program of the "INTERFABRIC" exhibition, it is now important to establish connections, strengthen the business community, and conclude mutually beneficial contracts. And "INTERFABRIC" can significantly contribute to this. According to him, this is one of the largest professional specialized exhibitions of fabrics, textile materials, accessories, and components in Russia and the CIS. Participation in such a large-scale event allows Russian manufacturers to expand their network of partners and clients, as well as promote their brand. Ultimately, the joint efforts of Russia and the CIS states will provide great potential for the development of the light industry.
