Textured fabrics are at the peak of fashion today, so it's no surprise that bouclé is making a comeback. Chanel's iconic bouclé suits once created a sensation and became cult classics. But the world doesn’t stand still, and bouclé has effortlessly transitioned from the world of high fashion into the world of interior design.
The fabric is quite coarse and textured, made from fancy yarn with large knots, yet its texture is pleasant to the touch and wear-resistant. While bouclé used to be made exclusively from wool, today it also includes cotton, linen, polyester, and silk.
This particular fabric was very popular at the stand of Ami-tex, a regular exhibitor at the fabrics and textile exhibition “INTERFABRIC”. It was showcased alongside a wide variety of new arrivals, such as muslin and linen – the upcoming season’s trend leaders.
More about Ami-tex’s assortment was shared by the company’s head manager, Asya Torchokova:
– We’ve been in the market for over twenty years, importing fabrics and knitted materials from China, Indonesia, and Korea. We offer a huge selection – from dressy to casual fabrics – including suiting fabrics, guipure, sequins, dress fabrics, and swimwear materials. We work with Russian companies that are looking for comfortable everyday fabrics.
Our head office and main warehouses are located in Pyatigorsk. Today, many of our clients are those who produce clothing for marketplaces. We collaborate with very large factories; our client geography is extensive – we operate throughout the country and also ship our products to Kazakhstan and Belarus.
Every season has its own bestsellers. In summer, it’s mostly muslin and linen. We also have a line of so-called regular fabrics – these include suiting fabrics and satins. We carry a wide assortment of fabrics for winter clothing – drape, faux leather, cashmere. This season, alpaca – a bouclé fabric – was especially popular, often purchased by upholstered furniture manufacturers. Faux fur is also widely represented.
The trend leaders of the upcoming season are linen and muslin. For example, linen organza – this airy, durable fabric is perfect for summer suits and dresses. Synthetic fabrics are particularly in demand today – viscose, polyviscose – as well as natural fabrics with synthetic additives, which have certain advantages over 100% natural fabrics. After all, people want speed and comfort – wash it, wear it, and no ironing needed. By the way, in addition to manufacturers, we also collaborate with various creative groups, because we offer fabrics like sequins, lurex, guipure, brocade, mesh, and taffeta – all of which are in great demand among artists and performers.
We have been participating in the “INTERFABRIC” exhibitions for several years now. The feedback is at a very high level – we sign contracts and enjoy very successful cooperation with everyone.
