A+Fabrics: innovation and inspiration in the world of fabrics – from India to Russia
A+FABRICS is an international team with 15 years of experience in the fashion industry: personal styling, tailoring of the wardrobe with the selection of fabrics, as well as conducting style training courses.
The logical continuation was the search and delivery of exquisite fabrics to the Russian market and consulting local designers on the creation of collections.
At first, the company transported fabrics from Europe, and then their passion for travel led them to India.
Now A+FABRICS selects fabrics from factories that cooperate with global brands: Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Uniqlo, GAP, Zara, H&M, etc.
Now Russian brands also have the opportunity to work with these fabrics.
Representatives in India help to find partners with high quality standards and control the entire process until the moment of loading on the ship.
More about this was told by Zora Polkovnikova, the head of the company:
– The first thing that struck us when we visited India was the quality of local designs, brands and brands. It caused absolute admiration. Our search for opportunities to acquire all this resembled the fairy tales of Scheherazade.
We went to the textile market in Mumbai, the largest in Asia, and it was there that a fateful meeting took place that changed our view of fabric production. We shared the details of our trip on social media, and we were bombarded with a huge number of messages asking us to bring the fabrics we saw. It all started from that moment.
Subsequent amazing journeys were devoted to the search for factories. I have a phrase that embodies our aspiration: "In order to find a treasure, you sometimes need to walk tens of thousands of kilometers along a dusty road." We see the results of our efforts and investments in this business. Our first exhibition at “INTERFABRIC” in March 2024 was a real sensation. The visitors could not tear themselves away from our stand until the very end, for us it is a huge compliment and confirmation that our work is bearing fruit, and we are proud of it.
– Why did you make such a difficult journey? What are your company's plans?
– Our dream is to see high–quality Indian fabrics on store shelves so that our Russian brands can create beautiful things from them. I especially like the approach of Indian brands to stitching, where each fabric carries energy and soul passed down from generation to generation. This continues to be our focus, where each fabric has its own unique story and energy.
We have found and continue to find some of the best factories in India that stand out for their innovative approach and commitment to sustainability and environmental friendliness. They conduct research and testing to ensure high quality fabrics in all aspects. We dive deep into quality, paying attention to sustainability, color fastness and durability. All the fabrics that we present are guaranteed to be of premium quality, which is reflected both in their appearance and in their characteristics.
At the A+ Fabrics booth, there was an impressive collection of elegant and shiny bemberg-based fabrics. Bemberg is a cotton fluff around the bone after pressing the oil, which makes it delicate and durable. This material is several times higher in quality than silk and has high breathability and ventilation. Indians combine bemberg with various fabrics such as lyocel, modal, tencel, creating unique combinations.
– What caused the greatest interest among the visitors of the stand? Which regions did they represent?
– For example, a collection of ecological corduroy and corduroy produced by the oldest Indian factory was presented at the company's stand. The variations of corduroy were amazing: in Russia we know it as a hem, but here a variety of honeycombs were presented. We also saw Indian embroidery and costume wool, including the innovative Super Black collection, which can be machine washed without losing quality.
This is also an amazing collection of Indian 100% high density linen in various colors. In addition, the factory presents a unique collection of hemp fabrics with spectacular prints, produced using an environmentally friendly method of obtaining yarn using special bacteria. These bacteria decompose the material, turning it almost into a fibrous substance, which is completely harmless to the environment. As well as a collection of innovative knitwear and world-famous Indian jeans, the incredible exposition of the stand was completed. All this was appreciated by visitors from different cities of Russia – we had Cheboksary, Yekaterinburg, Stavropol, Sochi, and there were also many guests from Moscow.
– What will you remember about the exhibition "INTERFABRIC-2024.Autumn"?
– This exhibition allowed us not only to present ourselves, but also to give visitors the opportunity to feel and feel the difference in materials. We are inspired here and are happy to share this inspiration with others. The feedback received at the exhibition confirms that we are on the right track.
